In a recent report from Waymo an American autonomous driving technology reported that they had 250,000 paid robotaxi rides on the west coast. This number is up from 200,000 rides in February, 2025 and may new information to those on the east coast not in the tech space. This project is running in a few regions that include Phoneix, Austin, Los Angelos and San Francisco. Waymo is under the Alphabet Inc. the same parent company of google. Waymo has also beaten Elon Musk’s Tesla to the market who promised to have commercial robotaxi’s by end of June. The company has not created a longterm business strategy as it is still in the beta stage, but it is working on securing partnerships with Uber one of the most utilized ride hailing apps in the U.S. Amazon is also working on Zoox another self driving vehicle, as the race to compete to dominate the space is in full swing.
